Hurricane Ernesto – another natural disaster
According to the National Hurricane Center, Hurricane Ernesto has reached its hurricane strength and approaches Belize and Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula.
It brings heavy rains and winds of up to 130 km/h. A hurricane warning is in effect in different parts of the eastern part of Yucatan peninsula and the entire coast of Belize. The Belize government has announced weather alerts for its residents. Relief supplies and rescue equipment are being sent to the vulnerable areas in Guatemala. Unfortunately, the storm is dangerous by causing flash floods and mudslides. About 1,500 people have been evacuated from their homes in Nicaragua’s coastal region.
